Eden's Tree

As I cross the flawless fields-
in a night-drawn a gale storm
I stand alone in the rye
I look up at the thousand shooting stars-
to see only one

It has been called-
and now I'm one
standing at the gate of eternity
a sweet comforting illusion-
a mind's play

I look away from the red sky-
to search for another one
splintering dreams walk through me
but I'm still one, and Only I.

I shut my eyes and go my way
but I spot the last scene-
A thousand faces with a thousand elysian smiles-
stem from Eden's tree and smile at me

I was the beginning, and they were the end.
